Ramadan is the month where we indulge ourselves in deep spiritualities by increasing our prayers and other acts of worships. It is a month where we refrain from food and drinks from dawn to dusk. Naturally, when we break our fast, we hope to have the best of food we can get, as a reward after fasting for the day. However, we should be mindful that we should not turn Ramadan as a festival of food as it supposed to on the contrary. Eat is moderation in always our principle as to avoid wastage and overconsumption.
Nonetheless, that does not disallow us from the opportunities to enjoy good spread for our breaking of fast. Iftar buffet is one of the many options that we usually consider in Ramadan. Although in some Middle Eastern countries, ‘overeating’ at iftar buffets have led to a spike in numbers of hospitalized diners, Alhamdulillah this has not been the case here in Singapore. Iftar buffet is a good option for a gathering of families and friends. Over the years, many hotels in Singapore have started to offer Ramadan-only halal-certified buffet and this increase our choices of hotel buffet options.
One of the iftar buffets that should not be missed is definitely Window at The Park, at Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre. Here are five reasons why Window at The Park is must-go iftar buffet:
1. They are only halal-certified in Ramadan
For good lovers who are only comfortable with halal-certified eating premise, having more option to try out the buffet at other hotels, beyond the usual halal-certified hotel restaurants is as an added gastronomic opportunity.

Window at The Park at Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre is known by many to provide splendid food options. On usual days, they are non-certified halal as they also serve beverages that do not conform to the halal-certification standard. However, for the month of Ramadan, their restaurant is halal-certified and Muslim patrons can eat at ease and enjoy their lovely spread.
2. They have an uber awesome spread
They offer around 50 dishes that cater to different taste buds. From traditional Malay spread such as highly quality-cooked Nasi Goreng Kampung, Ayam Masak Merah and Mackerel Asam Pedas to Briyani, Sushi and Sashimi. Their Soto Ayam is probably one of the best, together with tantalizing assortments of Satay and Gado-gado.

However, the best part of their buffet spread is the varieties of seafood options available for diners. Their Chili Crab with Mantou bun is one of the best that I have tried in Singapore (second only after Newton).

They also have Black Pepper Crab, Canadian Oyster, some Crayfish dish and a lot of different types of prawns. What I really love about their seafood spread is that these seafood are cooked unlike many other hotel buffets, they usually offer seafood on ice. But if you really love that seafood on ice, they have that option as well!

For noodle lovers, they have so many noodles too. From Laksa to Hong Kong Mee Hoon, and Prawn noodle, you can ask the chef to specially prepare it for you with the ingredients of your choice. They also offer Hummus with Pita and Baba Ganoush if you are into the Mediterranean taste.

Overall, their spread is more than what you can eat for iftar. Also, I personally think this medley of local and international spread is one of the best offered by the local hotels. For comparison sake, if you are into halal-buffet with more local flavor, Window at The Park offers better options that Fairmont’s Asia Market Cafe and Grand Hyatt’s Straits Kitchen. Just that, they are only Halal-certified for Ramadan. Sad!
3. They have just the right spread for desserts
One of the best parts of any buffet is definitely the deserts spread. Window at The Park offers just the nice assortments of desserts. These are some of my favorites:

These are some of my favorites:
Chocolate Tart
Creme Brulee
Bread Butter Pudding
Red Velvet Cake
Ondeh-Ondeh Cake

They also offer nice selections of ice-cream and sorbet. The children especially love ice-cream options.

Beyond the desserts, they also provided tasty drinks. Thai Milk Tea lovers will not be disappointed. They also have Masala tea (which I didn’t try) and of course the freshly brewed coffee and tea.
For other cold drinks, they have free-flow of Bandung, Orange Juice and Apple Juice.

4) They have a spacious prayer room (with hand-bidet toilet!)
For Ramadan, they have a designated prayer room for Muslim diners to pray. The prayer room is accessible for men and women, with prayer mats and bathroom slippers provided. The room is open till 10 pm. You may also do your terawih here (while waiting for your food to digest and continue the buffet after terawih!).

Beyond the spacious prayer room, the washrooms nearby the prayer room (at B1) also have hand-bidet. Such a relief for many of us who love toilets with hand-bidet! :)
5) Their buffet is VALUE FOR MONEY!
Ramadan is a season of giving. The rewards for providing a meal for the fasting person is the amount the reward of a fasting person. Therefore, for some of us who wish to take this opportunity to treat others, family and friends, having iftar at Window at The Park is one of the options that we can consider. They offer a value-for-money deal as well.
They offer the following rate:
Monday to Thursday: 1-for-1 Offer: S$78++ (for 2 persons)
Friday to Sunday: 1-for-1 Offer: S$96++ (for 2 persons)
Also, if you buy the voucher for Chope.Sg, you can get up to 55% off!

So, if you are looking for a buffet iftar this Ramadan, you know where to go!
Have a blessed Ramadan. Just remember not to overeating and avoid wastage!
